A Tale of Truth and Tornados

Bird NestIt seems that my dad didn’t tell me the whole story about the bird nest he brought me last week.  When I saw him this weekend confessed that he had actually stolen it.  And that’s not the worst of it.  He stole it from his own mother!  He did confess the crime to her.  Was it his conscience that led him to confess, or fear of his crime being discovered due to the fact that I had displayed it for the world to see on my blog?

I was relieved to hear that my grandmother claims she actually intended to give it to me in the first place.  I’m relieved that my dad is off the hook, but mostly I’m relieved that I don’t have to hand over the nest.  I’ve already become quite attached to it.

Bird Nest Under Glass

We spent the afternoon at my grandmother’s house today.  The family was gathered for the traditional Easter egg hunt.  Grandma confirmed to me that she meant for me to have the the little treasure.  Even if that wasn’t her intent she would give it to me if she knew I liked it.  That’s the way it’s always been with my grandma.  If someone expresses an appreciation for something she has, next thing you know she is giving it to them.   She has nine children and more grandchildren and great-grandchildren than you can shake a stick at, so this is a pretty big deal!

Nest & Things

Treasures

Our part of the world has been a very dry place lately and we have been plagued with wilfires.  We were very happy to see storms brewing as we headed home from our family gathering.  We weren’t quite as happy to see this as we looked to the north.

Tornado

Thankfully we were close enough to snap some shots of this funnel cloud, but not close to be in its path.  The storms did bring rain to our area, and we are so grateful!  It came complete with hail and tornado warnings, but we take rain however we can get it around here.

Who knows what the rest of the week has in store for us!

Great pictures of the storm, Laura! I’m a weather lover, and wish I could have seen that!

I”ve been meaning to write and thank you for the best wishes for my port removal. How are you doing? The Cancer ‘thing’ is pretty scarry, huh? If you have any questions (especially about the things they don’t tell you) or just want to chat please email me.
    Blessings,
    Susie
